ADSENSE NOW HAS A NEW RELATED SEARCH FEATURE
Google AdSense has been a great way for publishers to monetize their content by displaying advertisements. Publishers have relied on AdSense since its inception in 2003 to earn additional revenue on their websites and mobile apps.
As the nature of user experiences has evolved over time, so have Google's product offerings. Related Search for Content is Google's newest AdSense feature. If you're one of the two million AdSense users, you should learn more about this new monetization opportunity.
What Is Related Content Search?
Google AdSense now includes a new feature called Related Search for Content. It functions as a contextual navigation area, displaying search terms related to the content of a website to users. When a user clicks a search term, they are directed to the publisher's website's search results page. The search results page then displays additional relevant topics, such as search ads.
The Advantages of Related Content Search
There are numerous advantages to enabling this feature on your website or app. The first advantage is that it increases user engagement on your website, which includes :
1. Online traffic
2. Number of pageviews
3. Advertisement impressions
The second advantage is that relevant search ads are displayed. Google AdSense will serve ads relevant to the user's search terms on your website's search results pages.
The third advantage is that it generates additional revenue. You already monetize your content with AdSense; this new feature gives you more opportunities to show ads to users who are already on your site.
Finally, this ad unit may result in a better user experience. You can provide a consistent experience for the visitor because you have control over the look and feel of related search ads. Related Search For Content is a less intrusive ad unit for users on your website that still allows them to click on ads if they wish.
Protection of User Privacy
The Related Search feature is a contextual unit, which means that content will be displayed based on the content of the page. Furthermore, ads on the search page will be targeted based on the search term that the user clicked on. Google refers to this as a privacy-preserving solution because it does not target based on user data.
Begin With a Related Content Search
If you want to add this feature to your website or app, contact your account manager to activate it. There are additional requirements you must meet, such as adhering to the Custom Search Ads and AdSense For Search (AFS) policies. You must create a dedicated search unit for your content pages if you do not already have one. A detailed guide can be found here, but the basic steps are as follows :
1. In your AdSense account, create a custom search style.
2. Determine where you want the search unit to appear on your content page (s)
3. Insert the AdSense code into your website.
4. Post any updates to your website.
Content Reporting Related Searches
This new feature now has reporting capabilities. In your AdSense account, you'll see funnel reporting for a related search unit. Simply navigate to "Reports" >> Make a customized report and include the "Ad format" breakdown >> Metrics can be edited >> Choose "Funnel metrics."
